International crypto crimes are on the rise. Recently, the Chinese court summoned and sentenced nine scammers for a severe cross-border scam. Of late, a big network was operating in India, scamming people to their bones. The group of 9 people has scammed 66,000 people from India by now.
Meanwhile, they collected around $6 million in return for fake investments.
The Big Trap
Some fake promises are irresistible. The Chinese scams prove that all over again. However, this one was off the charts. The regulation, impression, and mimicry of this one scam were top-notch.
At first, they introduced the platform under the name Senee. The catchline of the platform was an offer of 8 to 15% returns within a month. There are a lot of people who are always on the lookout for shortcuts to multiply wealth.
This scam attracted them like magnets. Meanwhile, the interface of the app and its ancillary developments were so professional that even the most learned of the lot were baffled by it.
The Real Deal
Under the fake interface, the group used messaging apps and surreal IDs to approach Indian users. Gradually, they created trust. After that, they influenced thousands of people to invest in the platform using USDT, a popular cryptocurrency.
The Verdict Against Them
The people’s court in the Heze Economic Zone handled the case. On Apr 13, all 9 of the accused were found guilty.
Meanwhile, the judges said that it was a well-organized and managed crime. Such crimes only increase the threat that many similar fake apps and schemes also exist in the market.
Hence, it’s time that the Chinese Government starts serious search operations to spot such cross-border crimes that exist side by side.
