The darknet is a lawless place where everything goes and nothing is secure. However, US authorities cannot let it go unchecked. Hence, authorities have just cracked down on 145 internet and darknet domains that are connected to BidenCash.
BidenCash is a platform where stolen credit cards and personal data of users are sold. The crackdown was announced on June 5th by the US Attorney’s office. The announcement also stated that the body will seize cryptocurrencies in connection with this illegal operation.
According to reports, BidenCash was first established in 2022. This form of crime has become more apparent in recent years, following the digital boom. They facilitated criminals in obtaining personal and financial data with ease.
The report also highlighted that the platform distributed close to 3.3 million stolen credit cards for free to establish businesses. This mass giveaway was one of a kind and established BidenCash as a legitimate business for illegitimate operations, a weird oxymoron.
U.S. officials believe that the actions against BidenCash are an important move. This will set the right precedent for the people and even discourage such operations. The endeavor was headed by a joint task force known as Operation RapTor.
As of now, there have been nearly 270 arrests across 10 countries, and approximately $200 million has been seized. Therefore, the scale of the operation is quite big and can impede the actions of such groups.
