A few days back, a relative of a Crypto CEO was nearly kidnapped in France. Following this incident, Coinbase was breached in another attack. In the breach, personal data and information about employees and senior management were leaked online. These incidents have traumatized the industry, and there were certainly some reactions.
Following such crimes against the community, crypto entrepreneurs started hiring private security en masse. Data suggests that there has been a significant rise in hiring private security with equipment by wealthy crypto millionaires.
This shows that crypto not only brings fortune but also the caveats that come with it. Surprisingly enough, most professionals are being hired from a Dutch security firm called Infinite Risks International. This is either a coincidence or due to the firm’s past accolades.
Demand For Armed Private Security On The Rise
Jethro Pillman, the company’s director, broke the silence on the matter, stating, “We have more inquiries, more long-term customers, and proactive appeals from people who don’t want to be caught off guard.”
Earlier, the biggest scare a crypto millionaire could get was a scam, rug pull, or hack. But now, after the French incident, the dynamic has drastically shifted. These millionaires need to deal with real physical threats.
This is why private security firms are becoming increasingly normal for the community. As a result, this shift is slowly morphing the landscape into something completely different.
