In recent news, that fact became clearer and more blatant when a South Korean actress was caught with the charges of embezzling funds worth $3.1 million.
Actress Hwang Jung-eum is at the forefront of a fund embezzlement scandal. Embezzlement is a form of financial crime where a person of influence siphons money from a business or employer. The actress faces severe backlash for this, so much so that her career suffers.
According to sources, Hwang embezzled the funds to buy crypto, which backfired and landed her in the current situation.

SBS Plus, a popular television channel, just pulled the episode involving Hwang from their reality show ‘Because I’m Single’ following the admission in court. The production team released an official statement, “Hwang Jung-eum’s VCR segments will not appear in today’s final episode, which airs at 8:30 p.m.” The team added, “Her comments as an MC will also be minimized.”
However, Hwang has also issued a public statement saying, “I sincerely apologize for causing concern over this shameful matter.” She added, “I made the investment in hopes of growing the company, but it was a hasty and immature decision.” However, the damage has been done, and she is at the brunt of a terrible scandal.
Moreover, a health drink brand, Daesang Wellife Nucare, has scrubbed posters, including Hwang, and even pulled off adverts that are going on air. Therefore, things do not look good for the actress.
Still, the embezzlement occurred in a firm where she was the head of a one-person operation. Hence, her attorney has put forward the case, “Since the agency’s profits ultimately stem from the defendant’s own work, they can be seen as rightfully belonging to her.”
