CZ, also known as Binance’s Chengpeng Zhao, was recently released from a US prison after being acquitted of unfounded charges related to crypto regulatory lapses. However, the crypto guru somehow found himself at the center of another media circus.
However, this time he is not in the firing line. He is helping the government to revamp its digital asset landscape. It is believed that the landscape can truly change with CZ’s expertise.
CZ addressed a room full of crypto enthusiasts in the Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur. There he was heard saying, “How many are regulators or regulatory backgrounds here? OK, not many. So we’re safe.” This lighthearted joke initiated the meeting.
Even though CZ was in a jovial mood, the topic of conversation was certainly a serious one. Recently, CZ was appointed as one of the advisors to the digital finance wings of the Pakistani and Kyrgyz governments.
CZ added, “I always encourage the government to take a more relaxed approach.” He even said that the Middle East countries are crypto-friendly and they are setting the pace. He explicitly mentioned Dubai.
According to CZ, Dubai is currently preparing itself to tackle the regulatory challenges of incorporating Binance exchanges. All in all, there is a major shift in CZ’s sentiment towards Asia and the Middle East.
Some suggest that this shift came to light in the U’s arrest of CZ and the subsequent fiasco that he had to face.
